How are cells coordinated to regenerate the salamander limb?

Updated: Jan 16, 2020

The Mexican Salamander can regenerate its entire limb! But how do cells from the remaining limb work together to do this? In this video abstract, Josh Currie tells us about his recent publication in Developmental Cell, "Live imaging of digit regeneration reveals spatiotemporal choreography of diverse connective tissue progenitor pools," in which he addresses this question.

Josh was a postdoc in the lab of Elly Tanaka and carried out this work at the Center for Regenerative Therapies in Dresden, Germany. You can read more about Josh in his Meet the Author profile in Developmental Cell.
