Many of the cells in our bodies have cilia. Learn what they are and why they are important in this video created by Dr. Justine Pinskey, a postdoctoral fellow in the lab of Dr. Daniela Nicastro at UT Southwestern Medical Center. The Nicastro lab uses very powerful microscopes to see inside of cellular structures like cilia and learn how they work. This technique is called cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM).
Learn more about cryo-EM in this short video from UCSF.
